Northfield Schools Good??

Not !! Dealing with the school system, in this flippin’ town, is an exercise in frustration when you have a child with a learning problem. Last year we went back and forth with certain teachers whom REFUSED TO TEACH!! They were dang good at passing out assignments and homework, but TEACH? not a chance. Did we get any help from admin etc. oh a little bit.
We started this year with higher hopes, had a 504 plan filled out and I think the teachers laughed at it. I am so tired of hearing how wonderful the schools are. Things were fine in grade school. But the Middle School? Its bullcrap!! They will not take any heat either. They curl up and cry “MEANIE!! YOUR THREATENING ME!” When you call them to task. People have told me not to get the teachers mad at me!! Say what? If anyone thinks I am going to let them screw my kid(s) over, well, they got another thing comin’!
If you are so lucky to get a teacher whom is into athletics, coaching etc. Good luck!! Trying to get help from them is impossible. Why is that? I beleive someone said no child left behind? Not here. Are teachers held accountable? Nope. When watching the grades last year as the year progressed, it was startling to see how many “Ds” and “Fs” there were. Why is that? Class to hard? Kids dumb? Teacher was not teaching? BINGO, that is my bet.
And another note on athletics, my son went out for football, he found it was not quite what he expected. So I told him if it made him that uncomfortable he could quit. He has plenty to do playing two instruments, lessons twice a week and playing in a band that meets weekly. But what really teed me off was there was no response from his coaches to my email about the subject, inconsiderate people, can’t wait for conferences!!
Now they are singing the “woe is me” to get the new levy passed. They list everything they have to cut, programs, positions etc. But do you see any of the top, overpaid administrative people taking or getting cuts (Like the Superintendent?) ummmmm nope, not hardly. Am I going to vote for it? Nope not hardly!!
Am I mad? Y E S !!
