Pets....

United States presidential pets

We had a discussion for some strange reason tonight about Presidential pets..There are a few strange ones on the Presidential list there..

My #1 son asked what pets I have had…

Lets start with

“Sport” unknown small dog when I was a youngster. No clue what happened to ‘it’.

“Sparky” the Parakeet..No clue again!

“Trixie” large mix Shepard and Terrier, great dog!! Gave away to a friend in the country and we visited Trixie many times.

“Cokie” lab terrier mix I acquired as my first dog after moving out on my own. Demise? She disappeared!!

“Joker” my Brittany. Super dog I had him for 14 years. Hunted, had him “yard” trained and he never once wandered off until our last move.

“Patches” the cat from…..Came with MBWITW when we married…

“Fetcher” Miniature Schnauzer we got as a pup for the boys. Wonderful little dog with a heart like a Lion, faced down a Rottweiler in the front yard that the neighbors owned that was always running loose. When I came barreling out of the garage with my splitting maul the neighbor came rushing over to rescue the damn thing. Never had a problem again Fetcher developed diabetes and we faithfully gave him insulin shots for years before one night he began to seize and died. Terrible night it was.

“Smokey and Joe” the boys cats we got when they were in grade school and they mirrored the boys personalities! Joe we had to put to sleep after he developed kidney problems, by youngest had to make that call..What a shitty day that was. We still have SMoley, both had a bit of Russian Blue and were are neat cats (and I was NEVER a cat person!)

And “Jak”..after Fetcher I swore we were done with dogs. But the boys begged and pleaded and saved their money one day went off on a road trip with their Mom. Came back with this little white puppy…Was going to be “Boomer’ but “Jak” was the name…He is a Jack Russell Terrorist…But after he and I settled the “Alpha” male thing he turned into one wonderful dog …A little dog whom thinks he is HUGE and acts ike it. But faithful and oh so protective of the boys and MBWITW. He figures I can take care of myself..

Smokey and Jak are the pets these days…Not so sure how much longer for Smokey…she is well past 10. Jak is only 4 so ….Many, many more walks ahead of us!!

Pets…Dogs…permanent 2 year olds…
