The backers of the assault weapons ban--Dianne Feinstein and Barack Obama to name two--like to claim that nobody needs these weapons for hunting or for personal defense, yet it has now come to light that Janet Napolitano is planning on having her Department of Homeland Security purchase 7,ooo assault rifles for just such a reason.
The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO “personal defense weapons” (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians.
