Democide is the elimination of a despised group by a government. It includes genocide, politicide, and other forms of state-sponsored mass murder. The hated minority headed for extermination may be defined by religious, racial, political, class, cultural or other attributes. Between 200 and 260 million people were the victims of democide in the 20th century, several times more than were killed in international wars during that period.

This weekend’s Northfield News had letters from Amy Klobuchar and David Bly. Interesting similarity in their principles: petty, cheapo socialism.

US Senator Amy Klobuchar: “Seniors Deserve Affordable Prescription Drug Prices”

MN Rep. Bly reports on his first bills of his second career to “help us”.

Klobuchar’s bill:The Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act “will empower Medicare to negotiate the BEST POSSIBLE PRICE for drugs” for me.

Is that the lowest drug price for the government and me? Or the necessary price to induce new drug discoveries? Klobuchar thinks she knows better than the marketplace.

Bly’s HF355 “improves access to mental health education” for grade 6 to 12 students. Ah, E D U C A T I O N will solve mental illness, prevent gun violence ….

Bly’s HF364 will increase K-12 funding (naturally) for year round independent study programs “to grow and learn outside the normal school day”.

Obama too has a new program to improve education outside the normal school day. His preschool Federal bureaucracy would supplement mothers care from Birth to Head Start.

Note in all cases, the Democrats want to provide steady, small, invidious, incremental growth of the nanny state, supplanting the family and the market.

National Coalition Vows to Fight Erosion of Gun Rights

The basic arguments put forward in the letter are that:

1. Background Checks Don’t Impede Criminals.
Criminals obtain guns through illicit means such as theft and by having friends and associates with clean criminal records purchase guns for them, while rampage killers often have no criminal or serious mental health record to impede them. The Newtown Connecticut murderer was the only recent rampage killer who didn’t pass a background check to obtain his weapons–stealing his and murdering the legal owner–and none of them obtained guns from private sellers.

2. Injecting Government into Private Transactions is Unproductive and Dangerous.
Purchasing a firearm from a licensed dealer is the only exercise of an enumerated constitutional right which requires government permission. Every time a person purchases a gun through a licensed dealer, they are investigated by the government, even if they already own dozens of firearms, and even if they have just purchased a firearm in the previous month, week, or day. The infrastructure for these redundant checks costs taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars every year, and adding private transactions into the mix would cost millions more.

Money which could be much better spent on programs that have been proven to actually reduce crime. There has never been a study produced demonstrating a significant reduction in crime due to the background check system.

The current load on the background check system from dealers is often overwhelming, causing long delays and system shutdowns. Including private transactions in the process would exacerbate those problems and could result in a complete stoppage of all legal sales as easily as flipping a switch. These checks also provide the foundation for a federal firearm registration scheme–something tens of millions of responsible gun owners vehemently oppose. Registration in New York State recently resulted in hundreds of gun owners being placed at risk when a newspaper published names and addresses garnered from registration files. Several of those gun owners were subsequently burglarized.

3. Compromise on Background Checks is a Losing Proposition.
There is no gain for politicians, firearms retailers, or the public in any compromise on firearm rights, and the proposals for “universal background checks” are no exception. Few politicians have ever been harmed politically for opposing gun control, but support for gun control has ruined the careers of hundreds.

The backlash from passage of the Clinton “assault weapon ban” alone was credited with retiring almost half of the House of Representatives and numerous members of the Senate. No firearm manufacturer or retailer has had their business significantly hurt by being supportive of firearm owner rights, but the few who have made concessions to gun control advocates have paid a hefty price.

4. Don’t Just Do Something; Do Something That Works.
Politicians can make a significant impact on crime and rampage killings by focusing on strategies that have been proven to work like keeping violent criminals behind bars and doing away with imaginary Gun-Free Zones.

The letter concludes by declaring that restricting lawful access and use of guns will never deny illicit access and use of guns, and by putting politicians and others on notice that the group’s members will actively work to defend the Second Amendment against any encroachment and will exact a political or monetary toll on any who stand against them.

Here is my reply.

In your reply to me you talked about ‘assault weapons ban‘.
Now tell me. Where can I, as a civilian, legally buy an ‘assault weapon‘?
I cannot. They are reserved for the military.
I can buy semi automatic gun for target shooting and varmint hunting and, yes and, self defense.
But an actual automatic, pull the trigger and it keeps firing until empty weapon? Nope, not unless I want to spend lots of money on licensing etc. Which I do not.
So learn the proper terms on what is what and watch this.

In the coming weeks the Judiciary Committee will be holding hearings on gun safety, and as a member of that committee I will keep your thoughts in mind as we work on this important issue.

Did any of you or all of you sign this POS? If so, you do not represent me nor the Country I love and support!!! Yes you, Amy Klobuchar, Al Franken and John Kline!! I would expect it from the first two dhimmicrats, but not from the last!!!

HR 347 was recently signed into law by President Obama. This statute had wide support amongst both parties of Congress. In essence, it criminalizes disruptive behavior upon government grounds, at specially designated national events (Super Bowl, nominating conventions, etc.) and anywhere that Secret Service is protecting “any” person. Obviously, the goal of this law is to enhance the ability of the Secret Service to protect those persons it is charged to do so; but in extending this power, this law eviscerates the citizens’ rights to assemble and petition under the First Amendment.

Our Esteemed Dhimmi Lapdog, Minnesota Senators Klobuchar and Franken voted against our rights on this Bill.

But lucky for all of us Rand Paul managed to get the Amendment calling for detention, indefinite detention,  at the will of the government, to be voted down.

Did you hear about what happened in the U.S. Senate last night?

One of our foremost champions of liberty in Congress took another stand against tyranny.

And the statists who thought they had certain victory within their grasp instead went down in defeat.

This time, the amendment they tried to sneak through with a voice vote was one that would have allowed the government to indefinitely detain American citizens – even if they were tried and found not guilty – until Congress declared an end to the war on terror.

It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to picture how furious the Founders would be that any American, especially one who has been found innocent of the charges, could be held indefinitely by officials sworn to uphold the Constitution.

Thanks to quick work by Senator Paul and his staff, he was on the floor to object to their attempt to slide this language through.

Instead, Senator Paul called for a roll call vote that saw the amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act defeated by a vote of 41-59.

Our Rights are not negotiable as Senator Moran says and I expect you to do what you swore, to Defend and Protect this Nation and the Constitution?

So far have not seen much of that from you or your ilk on the left. Democrats seem to have forgotten what Freedom is.
