Waiting, Waiting….For Spring…

It looks like it is coming…Be here by April….

Today marks the beginning of 8 weeks of travel to and from top secret large military base where MSP holds it’s In-Service training…Of which I get to do the 1st Responder refresher portion of…Or as they call it ‘That 1st Aid stuff!!”…

Well they suffer through it and then I see the life saving awards submitted for them and lo and behold!! Skills we repeatedly pound into their thick skulls they use!!!

Whoa!! Who woulda thunk it!!????

Anyhow… Dress warmly as it is a bit north of home base for me…

Choking…1 Child Every 5 days..

One child chokes to death every 5 days in the US. Basic emergency medical training should be taught in schools.

Was sent to me by a contact on Linked. Not sure where the data comes from but with the ability to learn a simple and effective maneuver, the Heimlich, very easy to teach and to learn, these could be prevented.

I have taught hundreds, if not thousands, BLS/CPR which includes dealing with choking victims..

Now where is the outrage over this?

So ends my public service announcement for the week..

I've managed to control my "urge" to flee when seeing squads...which is a good thing...I guess..

Big controlled burn going on at base. Was dropping plenty of ash on us....

Monday night…FFers LEOs BLS/CPR refresher @ Long Lake Fire. 30 plus students…

Wednesday AM…ACLS refresher…CPR/BLS refresher @Robbinsdale…20 plus MD,s PAs, NPs, RNs…

Wednesday night…FFers, CPR/BLS refresher @Golden Valley…40 plus students…

Thursday afternoon..CPR/BLS initial class @Robbinsdale…about 20 first timers….Hospital employees…

Thursday Night EMR initial….NO CPR!! Last class before mid-term so students a bit anxious….

And tonight and tomorrow? Owatonna…yep….CPR/BLS with First Aid thrown in for a college, a credit class….pays quite well for that….

Next week? Umm more of the same with an EMT refresher tossed in…and some ACLS….and more FFer CPR refreshers…

I know that AHA CPR video pretty much by heart(no pun intended) by now ..

And whats a real kicker?….I get to do all 500 plus State Patrol Troopers starting the end of March!! In?……………………………. CPR!!!!!
