Homeowner’s son fights off home invaders, KHOU, Houston, Texas, 05/14/13

A trio of home invaders entered a house in Houston, Texas, forced the homeowner’s son into a closet and ransacked the house. While the criminals were searching for valuables, the son left the closet, retrieved a gun and fired on the intruders, striking one in the leg and neck and causing all to flee. The wounded criminal only made it to a nearby home before collapsing, at which point neighbor Craig Gaddis discovered him and called the police. Following the incident, Gaddis showed support for the young man who was forced to defend himself, telling local media “The owner, thank God for rights, he shot one of ‘em.” Gaddis also addressed the criminal adding, “He got what he deserved… You want to come over here and rob houses? Those of us who carry guns in our houses, they are there for one reason – to keep you people out.”

Let the religious persecution begin….

The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: “Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense…Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis…”.

The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians–including chaplains–sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of “treason,” and of committing an act of “spiritual rape” as serious a crime as “sexual assault.” He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are “enemies of the Constitution.”)

Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

So President Barack Obama’s civilian appointees who lead the Pentagon are confirming that the military will make it a crime–possibly resulting in imprisonment–for those in uniform to share their faith. This would include chaplains—military officers who are ordained clergymen of their faith (mostly Christian pastors or priests, or Jewish rabbis)–whose duty since the founding of the U.S. military under George Washington is to teach their faith and minister to the spiritual needs of troops who come to them for counsel, instruction, or comfort.

Sources Report Senate Republicans Caving on Guns

Sources inside the Senate tell me that the Republican Conference is scared to death of the tactics of Senators Lee, Cruz and Paul – that it is supposedly putting them in a tough spot.

Several of the Republicans are using the Manchin-Toomey compromise plan as an excuse to cave on the gun filibuster. They claim that Senators Lee, Cruz, and Paul are running ahead of the conference in their insistence on a filibuster.

What they fail to see is that the cloture vote is the vote to stop the gun legislation from passage.

ATTN Gun Owners: McConnell & Reid Cutting Deal on the Filibuster

The Senate Republican Leader and Senate Democratic Leader are cutting a deal on the filibuster.

You may think it is over and done with, but it is not.

Harry Reid, through Senate procedure, has kept the first day of business in the Senate going on. This allows the rules of the Senate to be changed with just a majority vote if he decides to claim the Senate’s business does not continue and constitutes itself as a new body every two years (it’s a Parliamentary thing). Meanwhile, behind the scenes Mitch McConnell and Harry Reid are cutting a deal to drastically curtail the filibuster. The left is fully on board and gearing up for this fight because they think they can get gun control through the Senate and other liberal initiatives.

I am sick and tired of politics!

Over the last couple of years, there has been a lot of tension over politics, and that division has intruded into my relationship with family and friends — particularly now with the upcoming election.

In 2008, I voted for Obama. That was my right — I am a good person and I voted for him for good reasons. But that decision has created stress between some of us, and that has been hurtful. Yes, sometimes I have thrown Obama in your face and I am sorry about that — I truly am.

Here is the thing. I don’t think you are stupid because you voted for McCain in ’08, and I’m not stupid because I voted for Barack Obama. We both want our country to go in the right direction, but we just have a difference of opinion as to what that direction is, and I’m entitled to my opinion.

I didn’t vote for Obama because of all the “hope and change” stuff. I voted for him because I could relate to him on so many levels and I trusted him. If this guy were my neighbor, I would give him the key to my house. I admire the fact that from his very difficult childhood and struggles rose a candidate for president of the Untied States — and an African-American with an unusual name!

I could relate to his desire to help people who most need it, to help the poor and elderly, children without medical care, and women in need. It seems like Republicans want to cut the important things people need most, and help the rich get richer. I feel like Republicans think Obama supporters are stupid.

I was excited that Obama was going to end the policies of George Bush. I have to tell you, I really didn’t like George Bush, and though I still feel that way about him, after four years it’s not as clear to me why.

But Obama against McCain, that was easy. Obama is more like me, energetic, young, loves his family.

I got a glimpse of the Obama motorcade on arrival for the debates here in Denver, and that was cool — though it held up a lot of traffic, which was not cool.

I watched this year’s first presidential debate closely and was disappointed in Obama. I found him depressing.

However, the Barack Obama I saw in the second debate the other night is the Obama I voted for in ’08!

He was “hitting on all cylinders” as Dad would say … but he wouldn’t about Obama, would he. ;-)

I woke up Wednesday morning feeling invigorated. I had a chance to talk about the debate with friends, and some agreed with me. That was “the real Obama” seemed to be the consensus, but my two best friends didn’t share my enthusiasm.

Later in the day, I ran into some friends who agreed that Obama won the debate — but they had some harsh criticism. One of my colleagues at the University said to me that she felt betrayed, like she had been tricked into voting for Obama the first time. A guy friend was much more callous, saying that he was now convinced that Obama was a phony and a liar.

These two people were Obama’s biggest fans in ’08. Did they watch the same debate I watched Tuesday?

Last night I had the uneasy feeling that something wasn’t right, something was out of place. After all the good vibes with the debate, I now find myself wondering if Obama was sincere, or if what I heard was just talk aimed at “emotional women,” like I’m not smart enough to vote on what I think rather than how I feel.

And the more I think about all his comments Tuesday night, against the backdrop of the reality that things have gotten much worse in the last four years, not better as he seemed to claim, I’m not sure I trust Obama anymore. I’m more concerned now than I was in ’08.

I think that Obama is still a good person and he wanted to do good things, but I’m bothered by the fact that he didn’t take responsibility for where our economy is now. That troubles me the most. It seems like he hasn’t grown into the job and hasn’t done much of anything he said he would do, and he’s still blaming George Bush. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed citizens and poor families has grown a lot.

So why am I writing you?

I know Mitt Romney is a genuine person who really does love his family, who really does care about people from all walks of life. Part of me doesn’t like the fact that part of me likes Romney! I am conflicted. I’m not writing to say that I am voting for Romney, but I have decided not to vote for Obama.

Don’t tell Dad or I’ll never hear the end of it!

The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Exposed

The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) has been in the works for a number of years.

Recognizing its threat, President George W. Bush rejected the treaty back in 2006 when the U.N. first voted to proceed with its development. But in a stunning reversal of U.S. policy, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are now supporting the U.N. negotiations and are working feverously to finalize ATT by July 27.

ATT supporters claim the treaty is designed simply to prevent illegal arms trade between dangerous rogue nations. But Second Amendment proponents here in the U.S. have studied it carefully and are exposing ATT for what it really is.

Chris Cox, Executive Director of the National Rifle Association-ILA had this to say about ATT:

“The U.N. wants to implement international gun registration requirements, bans on commonly owned firearms, tracking and registration of ammunition purchases, and create a new U.N. gun control bureaucracy.”

“You might think that something so obviously menacing to one of our enumerated fundamental rights would receive a strong rebuke from our top government leaders. But you’d be wrong. This is President Barack Obama’s vision for America, and we’re expected to just go along with it.”

Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton also is sounding the alarm.

“The administration is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there’s no doubt…that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”

Make no mistake: Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are doing everything they can to deflect attention from these very real concerns, but if ATT is signed and ratified, the ultimate result will be over-burdensome gun registration requirements, severe restrictions on gun ownership and ammunition purchases and eventual outright gun bans right here in the United States.

Guess Which Nation Is Leading the U.N. Assault
on The Second Amendment…

The United Nations is often referred to as the “theater of the absurd” for good reason. And its appointment of the nation to lead the Arms Trade Treaty Conference would be laughable if the issue wasn’t so serious.

The nation that is leading the ATT negotiations? IRAN

No, we couldn’t make that up if we tried. Earlier this month, U.N. Watch, a human rights group that monitors the U.N., revealed that Iran was elected to lead the ATT conference at which the treaty is being finalized. As Hillel Neuer, executive director of U.N. Watch, put it:

“Right after a UN Security Council report found Iran guilty of illegally transferring guns and bombs to Syria, which is now murdering thousands of its own people, it defies logic, morality and common sense for the UN to now elect this same regime to a global post regulating the transfer of guns and bombs.

“This is like choosing Bernie Madoff to police fraud on the stock market.”

Iran’s role in leading the talks to finalize the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty is reason enough to oppose it. That this treaty takes direct aim at our right to keep and bear arms as law-abiding American citizens should render ATT dead on arrival.

America simply cannot allow any more of her sovereignty to be forfeited to the United Nations “world community” — especially not the fundamental right that has protected us from tyranny for over two centuries.

The good news is we can stop ratification of the ATT. Under the U.S. Constitution, all treaties must receive the support of two-thirds of the Senate before they can be ratified.

That’s why we must act right now to force at least 34 Members of the United States Senate to make clear, in no uncertain terms, that this effort to use the U.N. to eradicate the Second Amendment is dead on arrival – before Barack Obama signs it.

We must force 34 Senators to stand up on behalf of all law-abiding American citizens and say to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the tyrants and despots that dominate the U.N., (to paraphrase former National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston) “From Our Cold, Dead Hands!”

Please stand with us now; demand the Senate speak as one American voice and decry any attempt to destroy our Second Amendment.
