Congressman John Kline’s Response

January 10, 2013

Dear Mr. MaddMedic:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me and share your thoughts on the unspeakable tragedy that occurred recently at an elementary school in Newton, Connecticut. I appreciate learning of your views.

As a father and grandfather, I am shocked by the enormity of the senseless slaughter of so many innocent lives, particularly our nation’s greatest treasure – our children. I believe the President struck the right tone in his remarks shortly after the tragedy, and agree with him that no single piece of legislation can prevent another tragedy.

As you may know, firearms are regulated by a comprehensive system of federal and state laws and regulations designed to assist law enforcement in their efforts to reduce crime and violence. The National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968, and the Firearm Owner’s Protection Act of 1986 all combine to form a comprehensive system of regulating the manufacture, sale, transfer, and possession of firearms and ammunition. Since 1986, for example, federal law severely restricted and essentially banned the manufacture and sale of automatic weapons (better known as ‘gangster’ style machine guns). Federal law is the minimum and many states place tighter restrictions on gun possession including wait periods, semi-automatic weapons bans, and conceal and carry restrictions. A full list of Minnesota‘s laws can be found by visiting the Minnesota Legislature website at http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/hrd/pubs/firearmsgd.pdf.

I believe more gun control is not the answer. We must also recognize this tragedy deals with issues of mental health and mental illness. In 2008, I supported the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. Since the enactment of this legislation, federal law now requires that when an insurer chooses to cover mental health and substance use disorder services, they must offer coverage of those services at parity with medical and surgical services. We must look at the reasons this happened and how to stop it from happening in the future. We must focus on good public policy rather than rushing to legislate.

As new details continue to emerge about the tragedy, one thing remains certain: a community – and a nation – have been forever changed by this unthinkable act. Like you, I believe we must ensure that those affected have the support they need from our nation’s leaders. We must not legislate in haste; instead, we must take a thoughtful, comprehensive approach. As the details of the appalling devastation continue to emerge, the nation and Congress will talk about school safety, and how best to protect our precious children when they leave us for school each day.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to do so again regarding any issue of importance to you.

Sincerely,

JOHN KLINE
Member of Congress

Freedoms Last Stand…

Gun owners — get ready.  All indications are that Obama is about to bring the hammer down.  It’s going to get down and dirty extremely fast.

Obama’s secret plan to reclassify your guns

“We have some confidential information that he may order the ATF to reclassify certain models of semi-automatic firearms as Title 2 guns under the Gun Control Act of 1968,” Snyder told WND. “What this would mean is that people could not obtain these without going through a terribly difficult process that includes registration of each firearm and paying a severe fee for the ownership of each one.”

Snyder said an even more drastic approach from Obama would be to try to ban semiautomatic weapons altogether.

“Also, there is the possibility that the administration could try to declare that semi-automatic firearms are fully automatic firearms or machine guns under this Title 2, in which case they would be banned because of an amendment that’s on the books, the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Top 10 Most Dangerous U.S. Government Agencies

#10 – Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – annual budget $8.5 billion: Their record of ignoring environmental damage and the health effects on humans from major events such as 9/11, the Exxon and Gulf oil spills to the worst case, Fukushima, is unparalleled. Rather than investigate and warn of real dangers, they have gone after farmers for dubious claims of water contamination, while treating milk spills as they should have treated oil spills.  Even worse, the EPA has concluded that there is no law preventing it from doing “research” on Americans. A recent lawsuit over the EPA’s work with airborne pollutants will put this claim to the test in Federal court. Their illegal human experiments could break the Nuremberg Code (source: The Washington Times).

#9 – Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – annual budget $13.3 billion: Cries of “End the Fed!” continue to get louder, while more people are beginning to wake up completely and couple this with “End the IRS!” In fact, the two were developed together 100 years ago making the private Fed and the government IRS fraternal twins in creating a system of indentured servitude through dollar devaluation and arbitrary tax collection, respectively. The Fed enslaves through stealth, while the IRS uses force to impose itself through ever-expanding regulations and the threat of fines and imprisonment. As the collection division, the IRS rakes in a staggering $2.3 trillion annually. Despite that massive amount, the IRS has a distinguished record of ignoring the shenanigans of major corporations and federal employees, while focusing harshly on the average private citizen and small businesses in particular. Thankfully, there is some momentum toward abolishing the IRS through FairTax legislation. Now would be a good time, as the IRS will be empowered even further when the healthcare overhaul takes effect.

Would States Secede?

Pretty sure the Blue state I live in would never think of it. But there are 20 States that have stated the Obama Health Care Mandate is null and void. I remember reading an article years ago about a Russian mathematician predicting the USofA would Balkanize. Will it? Is this what Obama wants? So that once he divides us..We fall?

We will find you….

Oh boy!! One more damn reason to NOT watch Buck Ofama’s Coronation...I’d rather have a colonscopy, root canal, whatever before watching that!! Be worse then waterboarding!!

Gun violence…I hate that term. Why is it ‘gun violence‘ any other time and inanimate object is used in a act of violence do you hear the term __________violence used? Nope. Only when a gun is used…

Another fine example of stupid laws, written by stupid people. Whom were elected by stupid people…

“He is cited under a state penal law statute that prohibits possession of “a large capacity ammunition feeding device.”

Now ain’t that just effing special…

Obamacare..Not working so well is it? Not working is a reality for some!!

Did CIA pick sanitize Obama’s passport records?

John Brennan, the Obama counter-terrorism adviser nominated this week to head the CIA, played a controversial role in what many suspect was an effort to sanitize Obama’s passport records.

On March 21, 2008, amid Obama’s first presidential campaign, two unnamed contract employees for the State Department were fired and a third was disciplined for breaching the passport file of Democratic presidential candidate and then-Sen. Barack Obama.

Fox nails it on guns..

In the wake of tragedies we tend to react out of emotion. When dealing with policy-making, however, we all benefit if logic enters the discussion. It is difficult to imagine a more heart-wrenching event than the Newtown, Conn. shootings. The inevitable calls for more gun control legislation reflect an understandable desire to do something after 26 defenseless and innocent people are slaughtered.

The more important question, however, is what can we do that will make a difference? That, I suggest, is the best way to honor those who lost their lives. Making us feel better should not be the measure. We should try to make a difference.

Lock and Load. Don’t bury them, it is to late…

Russian emergency workers continue to try to clear a main highway in the country’s restive Northern Caucacus region after two days of extremely heavy snow. Russian emergency workers trying to clear roads are using anti-aircraft guns to bring down potentially dangerous over-hanging snow on mountains in Russia’s southern region near Georgia. In two days, the equivalent of more than two months of snow fell in the region, causing an avalanche to cover the Transcaucasus Highway. Denis Ivanov works for Russia’s Emergency Ministry Search and Rescue Squad. He says power lines sustained minor damage and barracks were hit as well, but people were evacuated in time so there were no injuries. Russian Weather Service Avalanche Paramilitary Squad Commander Aslan Dzugaev says large changes in temperature have caused the avalanches. He says during the day it is up to six degrees Celsius and by the evening it can fall to as low as minus-16 degrees Celsius. He says this causes avalanches. Russian news agencies are reporting many tourists who went to the region for Russia’s holiday season have been trapped because the Transcaucasus highway is impassable.
