And he’s doing it RIGHT NOW — under the noses of every American!
Inappropriately titled the Marketplace Fairness Act
(S. 743), this legislation would mandate that online businesses collect sales taxes for all of America’s estimated 9,600 state and local taxing authorities! The complexity to comply would raise consumer costs, while small and medium-sized businesses scramble to keep track of thousands of different tax codes to conduct business via the Web. This legislation also would empower bureaucrats to audit businesses that don’t comply — levying stiff penalties and interest on top of the tax bill!Concern and complexity could force businesses to stop selling out of state, stunting growth and driving down the economy even further!

The Senate was supposed to be taking up gun control next week. But now it looks like the outpouring of grassroots opposition from GOA activists has forced Harry Reid to push back his plans for at least a week.
Said the New York Times, “The group [GOA] has already been successful in both freezing senators, particularly Republicans, who have appeared to be on the fence about supporting bills to expand background checks and [has been] empowering those who have a strong gun rights background.”
The article cited GOA’s work in bolstering the resolve of several Senators, but especially that of Tom Coburn of Oklahoma who has been frequently wooed by anti-gun Senator Chuck Schumer.

To date, no compromise has been reached. And that means Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid just doesn’t have the votes yet.
Here’s why:
More Senators have committed to support the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster, including James Inhofe (R-OK) and Marco Rubio (R-FL). There are even more Senators who are joining this list, and we will share those names with you next week.
A plurality of Senators voted for a GOA-supported Lee amendment, two weeks ago, requiring a super-majority vote to pass gun control. While the amendment failed (as it needed support from 60% of the Senate), it nevertheless sent a “shot across the bow” of the gun controllers ship.
On March 23, a majority of Senators voted to bar the Obama Administration from signing onto an anti-UN treaty. This was an important development, seeing as that the United Nations General Assembly approved the Arms Trade Treaty earlier this week.
More Congressman are joining the fight in the House to put pressure on House Speaker John Boehner to support the Hastert Rule – a rule that would kill all gun control. The number of Congressmen supporting the Stockman-Broun letter is now up to 30.
GOA has still been lobbying the House, even while we’ve been asking you to mostly focus your efforts on the Senate. To that end, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked Rep. Peter King yesterday about the influence GOA is having in the House.
“The New York Times has a report on the Gun Owners of America,” Andrea Mitchell asked. “What are members saying about the impact of lobbying groups such as them [GOA]?”
King, who is, ironically, F-rated with GOA, said that, “Larry Pratt with the Gun Owners of America is effective. I don’t deal with them myself, but the fact is, they are effective.”
As we noted above, the New York Times quoted Senate aides on Tuesday as saying that “gun issues would probably slip to the week of April 15 – a setback considering that Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leaders, had pledged that it would be the first issue to come up when Congress returns from spring recess next week.”

Honestly. Watching MSNBC is torment. It is like planting a listening device in Hitler’s bunker.
After consultation with the White House, MSNBC has revealed what the Democrat‘s strategy is for passing “universal gun registration,” gun bans, and magazine bans.
Ironically, one MSNBC commentator, Mike Barnicle, accidentally referred to universal background checks as “universal gun registration.” What does that tell you about the Left’s agenda for background checks?
Bottom line: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will bring gun control (S. 649) to the floor, and he will use his privileged recognition to force Republicans to cast votes that will paint them as wanting to arm rapists and violent felons.

The message is clear for Republicans and pro-gun Democrats:
They need to stop the Gun Control Bribe-O-Thon by filibustering and defeating the Motion to Proceed to the Gun Control Vehicle, which will probably be S. 649.
If they allow the Senate to proceed to the gun control bill, Harry Reid, who has privileged recognition in the Senate will orchestrate a multi-day gun control bash-o-thon — with Obama, Biden, and every other anti-gunner in America coordinating a narrative that pro-gunners support rapists, murderers, and every other type of evil-doer.
The strategy is NOT to allow Reid to stage his bash-o-thon so the GOP can show what it’s “for.” Reid has control of the floor, and, as we saw with ObamaCare, he will use that control to mercilessly destroy supporters of the Second Amendment.
Plus, Reid will try to get a sufficient number of Senators by using bribes and kickbacks to buy the 60 anti-gun votes he needs (just like he did on ObamaCare).
ACTION: Click here to contact your Senators. Reinforce that the key vote on gun control is a vote to oppose the motion to proceed to the gun control bribe-o-thon, and to support the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster of the motion to proceed to the gun control bribe-o-thon.

As a young boy I was shot by a man whose clear intent was to kill me as I had deliberately, by throwing broken bricks at him, interrupted his attempt to rape a young teen-aged girl, allowing her to escape. To this day I can still see the evil in his face and the sun glistening off the barrel of the pistol he aimed in my direction. As I turned and began to run away he fired hitting me in back. The bullet entering my chest felt as if someone had hit me with baseball bat followed immediately by an excruciating burning sensation as I fell to the ground from the impact. Perhaps it was the adrenaline, but I was able scramble to my feet and run as far as I could until finally passing out from the shock and loss of blood. Fortunately, someone came to my rescue and took me to a military hospital and the first step on my journey to the United States.
During an appearance on CBS’ ‘Face the Nation,’ House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi suggested that President Obama use the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling and dodge a legislative showdown.
She said, “If I were president, I would use the 14th Amendment, which says that the debt of the United States will always be paid.”
Judge Napolitano targeted Pelosi’s interpretation of the amendment, saying, “Mrs. Pelosi has essentially taken a small phrase in the 14th Amendment and extrapolated it well beyond its original meaning or even any common sense.”

David Vitter called Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid an ‘idiot’ on Monday for saying the damage from Hurricane Katrina was ‘nothing in comparison’ to Hurricane Sandy. ‘Sadly, Harry Reid has again revealed himself to be an idiot, this time gravely insulting Gulf Coast residents,’ Vitter wrote on Twitter.”This verbal assault on Reid comes just weeks after House Speaker John Boehnerreportedly told him to “go f#ck yourself” — twice. It’s unclear if Reid proscribes to the much-lauded “sticks and stones” philosophy or whether names actually hurt him.

– DISCLOSE Act Moving Again
Anti-gun Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (NV) really does not want gun owners’ voices to be heard in Washington, D.C.
Anti-gun Democrat leaders have scheduled a vote for Monday, July 16, on the so-called DISCLOSE Act.
You may recall that the DISCLOSE Act passed the House in 2010 but died in the Senate after an intense lobbying effort by Gun Owners of America and other groups.
The bill coming to the floor on Monday, S. 3369, sponsored by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, puts severe and unconstitutional limits on GOA’s ability to hold individual congressmen accountable in the months leading up to an election.
Instead of protecting the most important type of speech protected by the First Amendment — political speech — this bill would force groups like GOA to “disclose” the names of donors in certain political advertisements.
Since Gun Owners of America is not willing to disclose its membership lists to the Federal Election Commission, we could be prohibited from running radio or TV ads exposing a federal candidate’s voting record during the election season.
This is just another attempt by pathetic, anti-gun politicians like Harry Reid to save their jobs before the political earthquake in November strikes. Indeed, if GOA candidates are victorious in Senate races in November, Harry Reid will no longer be the Majority Leader.
And, as has been the case so often with Reid, there have been no committee hearings to debate the merits of the bill, thus the American people have no opportunity to see just how egregiously DISCLOSE violates the Constitution. In fact, the bill was introduces less than a week ago.
Please urge your Senators to protect ALL of the Bill of Rights. Remind them that your ability to protect the Second Amendment relies on the safeguards of the First Amendment.
