Micheal Paymar, Politician, DFLer…Liar..

One should never trust a politician. Like a salesman they will tell you whatever the need to to get you to buy their ‘bullshit’.
Paymar stated in an interview today that he intends to bring gun registration (aka Universal Background Checks) directly to the House floor for a vote.

Here’s the quote in the Star Tribune today:
“On Wednesday he said, ‘The agreement we had with the Speaker is that Rep. Hilstrom would agree to the gun show loophole language, and that the Speaker would allow a vote on the House floor.’ But once that more limited bill reaches the floor, Paymar said, an amendment will likely be offered to re-insert universal background checks.”

Which brings us back to Minnesota.

On September 7, 1876, Jesse and Frank James, Cole, Jim and Bob Younger, and three others didn’t “leave their guns at the edge of town,” law or no law, when they entered Northfield, Minnesota.

They where there to rob the bank

Fortunately, the townspeople didn’t leave their guns at the edge of town either.

The gang met a hail of gunfire from the merchants and townsfolk when they exited the bank with their loot.

Two outlaws were killed, the other six were wounded, and all they got according to Wikipedia was “several bags of nickels.”

Two townsmen were killed and one was wounded. They were unarmed.

Northfield residents were so proud of what they had done that they still stage reenactments every year..

I have been using a Remora holster for a couple years..I like it a lot, both as a IWB and Pocket Holster. The mag holder not so keen about. UPDATE: Anti-rights MN Senate omnibus hearing scheduled for Thursday noon

gocra_letterhead_email.png

UPDATE!!!

Senator Latz’s committee assistant sent us a notification last night that the hearing would be at noon. Today, the committee schedule was updated to show that the hearing was at 6 p.m. Strangely enough, the anti-gun Facebook page had the 6 p.m. time listed hours before the committee page was updated. Don’t you wonder how we got sent the wrong info, and they got the right info?

More gun control: here it comes! (evening hearing)

A pile of anti-rights legislation will be heard by the a Minnesota Senate committee on Thursday at 6 p.m.

More gun control: here it comes!

A pile of anti-rights legislation will be heard by the a Minnesota Senate committee on Thursday at noon.

The Senate Judiciary Committee, headed by Sen. Rob Latz, will hear the bill, which he authored, and which is likely to closely match Rep. Michael Paymar‘s rights-stripping HF237.

The committee is heavily weighted toward urban, anti-freedom urban DFLers, who need to hear from you that real Minnesotans DO NOT support these policies. Their contact information is below.

If you are free on Thursday, it is important that we have plenty of gun rights supporters, but this will not be the last, or even the most important, event at the capitol in the coming days and weeks. If you have to save your days off, there will be more winnable battles.

Please continue to write and call your own senator an representative, with three simple messages:

  • I am your constituent
  • I oppose Rep. Paymar’s HF237 and its Senate companion
  • I support Rep. Hilstrom’s HF1325 and its Senate companion

Oh, and If you haven’t gotten your GOCRA supporting membership, now is a great time!

State Budget Forecast Improves Again
Now is Not the Time to Raise Taxes

(St. Paul, MN) -
Today Minnesota’s Office of Management and Budget released the state’s
February budget forecast. The projected deficit dropped from $1.1 billion to $627 million. Our state is in far better financial condition than it was two years ago, when we faced a $5.1 billion deficit.
“Two years ago, Governor Mark Dayton insisted that Minnesota’s economy would be damaged
without massive tax increases. Republicans held firm and balanced the budget by setting priorities and holding back the growth of government. Two years later our economy is improving, tax revenues are increasing, and the state is in better shape.
“ But now Governor Dayton and DFL legislators want to raise taxes
on every Minnesotan. This will
hurt families, slow our economy, and return us to a cycle of low growth and big deficits,” said
Senator Dave Thompson (R-Lakeville), Assistant Minority Leader

MN Senate gun control hearings next week: WE NEED YOU THERE!

gocra_letterhead_email.png

It’s time to let your voice be heard at the Minnesota Capitol!

We need you to once again show the Minnesota Legislature that real Minnesotans oppose infringements on Second Amendment rights!

Senate Judiciary Committee chair Ron Latz, a consistent voice against gun rights, has scheduled three hearings next week to discuss the numerous gun control bills introduced this session. They hearing times are:

While Senator Latz delayed public announcement of these hearings until Wednesday night, he apparently tipped off anti-rights groups early Wednesday morning!

We don’t know yet which bills will be heard when, but there are plenty of bad bills to go around.

THANK YOU for fighting for your gun rights — here’s what’s next

gocra_letterhead_email.png

Due to an email glitch, some people didn’t get this message yesterday, so we apologize if you get this twice. Please note that we’ve updated the probable Senate hearing date next week to THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 21.

YOU FILLED THE CAPITOL
Gun rights activists — that’s you! — made a fantastic showing at last week’s gun control hearings at the Minnesota House. At the hearings, a dozen bills were introduced and debated. Eleven of them would restrict our right to keep and bear arms.

For an overview of all of these bills and what they mean, visit our bill reference page at http://www.gocra.org/news/reference/2013-firearms-bills/

But thanks to your turnout, and your flooding the legislature with calls and emails, there are already cracks forming in the support for these attacks on the Second Amendment:

YOU MADE THEM THINK TWICE!
Rep. Debra Hilstrom
Committee member Debra Hilstrom (DFL – Brooklyn Center), apparently sent hundreds of people this email over the weekend:

Thank you for contacting me regarding bills introduced regarding guns. I do not support any bans or the proposal for additional background checks.
Thank you
Debra
Sent from my iPad

We appreciate Rep. Hilstrom’s pro-civil-rights approach!

Rep. Alice Hausman
Representative Alice Hausman (DFL – Roseville), the author of the “assault weapon” and magazine ban bills, was not even in the room to present “her” bills to the committee. She left it to a gun control lobbyist, paid by out-of-state foundation funds, to pitch the proposals. Even the Star Tribune took note of this highly irregular activity.

Hausman later admitted to a reporter from the liberal web site MinnPost.com that she “doesn’t really know anything about guns” and “just sorta signed up.”

LET’S CLOSE THE DEAL – ACTION ITEMS
These bills stand a good chance of being shot down in committee. You can make that happen:

1) CALL and EMAIL Representative Alice Hausman and (politely) demand that she withdraw the bills that she didn’t even present.
651-296-3824
rep.alice.hausman@house.mn

Rep. John Ward

2) CALL and EMAIL Representative John Ward, thank him for his past support of your gun rights, and encourage him to stand by his values, maintain his GOCRA A-rating, and vote against these infringements.
651-296-4333
rep.john.ward@house.mn

Representative Shannon Savick
3) CALL and EMAIL Representative Shannon Savick, remind her that her district is filled with hunters, sportsmen and Second Amendment supporters, and ask her to vote against these rights-infringing bills.
651-296-8216
rep.shannon.savick@house.mn

4) CALL and EMAIL your OWN state representative and senator and tell them not to support these infringements. If their info isn’t at the bottom of this email, please update your address using the link below! We need it to get you information specific to your area.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The Minnesota Senate will have their own gun bill hearings starting, probably, next Thursday afternoon. If you can join us at the capitol to stand up for your rights, we need you there. We’ll send you more details as soon as we have them.

Please forward this email to gun owners and civil rights supporters, and ask them to sign up at http://www.gocra.org/join.html
