Dear Mr. MaddMedic:

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017. Understanding your ideas and concerns helps me better represent you and the Second District of Minnesota. I value your comments and appreciate the opportunity to respond.

As you may know, on January 3, 2017, Congressman Richard Hudson (NC-08) introduced H.R. 38. This bill amends federal code to allow law abiding citizens with conceal carry permits to travel between states. H.R. 38 has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations, where it now awaits review.

As a member of Congress, I took an oath to uphold the Constitution. This includes protecting American’s second amendment rights. While I do not serve on the House Committee on the Judiciary, I look forward to reviewing the committee’s findings on H.R. 38. If the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 comes to the House floor for a vote, I will certainly consider it with your thoughts in mind.

Thank you for contacting me. As Congress debates solutions to the challenges facing our nation, I hope you will continue to share your thoughts and views with me. Should you have any further questions or comments about this or any legislative issue, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 225-2271.
