More Anti-Gun Senators Cosponsoring Fix NICS, known as the ‘Take the Guns First’ Bill
House Republicans are still considering whether to add gun control to the omnibus spending bill.
Meanwhile, the Senate version of Fix NICS just picked up another notorious anti-gun cosponsor.
The Senator, who President Trump likes to refer to as “Faux-cahontas,” signed on to the bill this week.
Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts now joins anti-gun Senators Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Richard Blumenthal, Dick Durbin and Chris Murphy.
This is the “who’s who” of gun control. They are all cosponsors of S. 2135.
And yet some Republicans want to tell us that this Fix NICS legislation is a “pro-gun” bill?
Fix NICS should be better known as the “Take the Guns First” bill.
Because this bill will result in gun bans for many military veterans, older seniors, people with outstanding traffic tickets, medical marijuana cards, and more.
After having been disarmed, these law-abiding gun owners will need to spend thousands of dollars in the court system to prove their innocence.
Fix NICS doesn’t improve the situation for gun owners, it actually makes existing law worse.
No wonder so many anti-gun Senators are cosponsoring it!
Real Pro-Gun Senators are NOT Cosponsoring Fix NICS
There are still almost 20 Republican Senators who have not bowed their knees to the graven image of Fix NICS.
While you can click here to see the entire list, you will not be surprised to hear that they are being led by pro-gun champion Senators like Mike Lee of Utah, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Ted Cruz of Texas and Steve Daines of Montana.
All the pro-gun Senators need to be encouraged.
But then we also need to urge Senators who have cosponsored S. 2135 to pull their names off the bill.
1. Hero Senators (aka, pro-gun Republicans) are thanked for NOT cosponsoring Fix NICS, and they’re encouraged to prepare pro-gun “killer” amendments to offer to it (if the bill comes to the floor for a vote).
2. Zero Senators (aka, compromising Republicans) are rebuked for cosponsoring FIX NICS and urged to pull their names off S. 2135.
3. All anti-gun Democrat Senators will receive partisan arguments encouraging them to oppose the efforts of compromising Republican Senators, who will try to use this issue to benefit their Party.
Please send these emails. Of course, you are free to edit them (as always).
But we need to really put the heat on these Senators.
Working together, we very well may keep this bill from coming to the floor for a vote.
