While I am sure they expect an appeal, the real purpose of this law is that they will wait until there is an accident in a home with a firearm being handled by someone it should not be, and then they will crucify the gun owner with the entire incident fomenting a national movement for the same law.

The great assumption of the left is that gun owners are not conscientious or safety minded and that we need to be controlled. The fact is that all the gun owners I know exercise diligent safety protocols and need no law to compel them to be safe.

The reason that this type of regulation becomes law is because there is no ongoing PSA movement to promote the safe and lawful ownership of firearms and would include depictions of normal people who are portrayed as safe and careful gun owners.

The lack of a positive image for gun owners in the public’s eye leaves hollywood and the media to flood the airwaves with negative stereotypes. I would have thought that the gun manufacturers and various owners advocacy groups would have gotten on this job years ago but for some reason there is no counter to this onslaught.

20 years ago, before the present leadership took over the NRA , they would have advertisements on promoting safety and that their members were safety oriented. Those days are gone and so will the NRA be in due time.

The lack of a positive image of gun owners in the USA is why we hear all of this ban this and that talk. Laws like this one in San Diego are intended to drive more nails in the coffin of unfettered gun ownership.
