So what? Besides increasing my "share" of paying for teachers salaries, their benefits etc. And do not tell me that was not part of this…Unions dictate and if you do not believe that your not paying attention.
And this will improve what? Students test scores have not improved, here, here, here.
Or how about here.
Money does not fix things. People do. Not Administrators trying to justify their existence and asking for more all the time. But administering and leading and working with what they have. Teachers that teach and do not get me wrong, there are those that do and some damn good ones. But it seems many expect to opinionate and teach beliefs, their liberal beliefs. And this is wrong.
Nearly one-fourth of the students who try to join the military fail its entrance exam, painting a grim picture of an education system that produces graduates who can’t answer basic math, science and reading questions.
The report by The Education Trust found that 23 percent of recent high school graduates don’t get the minimum score needed on the enlistment test to join any branch of the military. The study, released exclusively to The Associated Press on Tuesday, comes on top of Pentagon data that shows 75 percent of those aged 17 to 24 don’t qualify for the military because they are physically unfit, have a criminal record or didn’t graduate high school.
“Too many of our high school students are not graduating ready to begin college or a career — and many are not eligible to serve in our armed forces,” U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan told the AP. “I am deeply troubled by the national security burden created by America’s under performing education system.
What does improve test scores? Well probably holding Administrators, teachers and schools accountable. But we know how well they like that!!! Could try to do this..
They like to so trumpet their horns about their successes. Yet what about their failures? Those they find they cannot reach or teach and shuffle off to ALC or let fall through the cracks..Their lame excuses that it is the "students" fault! The are not "trying".
Such lame crap.
They shuffle these kids off to ALC and slip them out into the world. With what?
Or maybe it is the parents fault. We advocated, fought for our son. And the effing school, administration, teachers fought us right back.
Was never their roddramed fault.
No blame there!!
They ran from us, yes ran, when we showed up at conferences because?? I questioned them? Asked pointed questions? Pushed a little bit. But it was my kid(s) I was advocating for as no one in the school system was. Especially when he was moved into special ed or whatever the eff they call it. What a waste.
We had an IEP put in place. What a waste. I did at one point make contact with and have discussions with the DOE of Minnesota. I was actually put in contact with some "compliance" division that was already to come down and investigate if I so wanted becasue they agreed with me and gave me a number of options to try first. Which I foolishly did as I felt I should give the school system a chance…A big fail on my part…
It seems after 7th grade we had to "advocate" with the system every year and we lost. The school lost. Yes you had just as much to do with where my son is as we did.
Because in plain English you effed him big time. Finally getting him off to ALC. What a waste. Yet seem to be where Northfield shuffles those round pegs off to that won’t fit in their square holes.
They make me sick.
And now he hates school, the thought of going on to school sets him into a spin..He refuses to.
He looks for a job. He lives in my basement. He wanders down town and we worry..At 19 I suppose I could kick him out. But that won’t happen.
We see all these kids busted for selling and doing drugs. He recognizes many of the names from ALC. According to someone whom is a "graduate" of ALC she knows some that have died and were at ALC.
This is our successful school system.
Yeah sure it is…
