Pointless: Reply from Senator Franken

Of course Franken supports the Pro Abortion, Anti Gun Obama nominee.

Office of Sen. Al Franken
March 1, 2012

Dear Madd,

Thank you for contacting me about the nomination of Caitlin Halligan to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts with me on this matter.

President Obama nominated Ms. Halligan in September 2010. Ms. Halligan has served as New York State’s Solicitor General, and she currently is the General Counsel for the New York County District Attorney’s Office. She also has worked in private practice and has clerked for the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, an independent and non-partisan panel that evaluates judicial nominees, unanimously has given Ms. Halligan its highest possible rating.

In March 2011, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted to send Ms. Halligan’s nomination to the full Senate. As a member of the Judiciary Committee, I voted in support of Ms. Halligan’s nomination. However, on December 6th, my colleagues across the aisle blocked Ms. Halligan’s nomination and prevented the Senate from giving her an up-or-down vote. For the time being, Ms. Halligan’s nomination appears to be on hold.

Article II of the Constitution says that the United States Senate must give its "advice and consent" before a judicial nominee can be confirmed. I take this constitutional responsibility very seriously, and I’ll be sure to keep your views in mind as I consider the President’s judicial nominees.

Thank you again for contacting me, and please do not hesitate to do so in the future on this or any other matter of concern to you.

An NC Gun Blog: Meanwhile in Sarah Brady Paradise: Genuine Terrorism edition.

Go read it.

Left unexamined is how a country that bans all handguns and most rifles and shotguns still has an armed terror group running about. Isn’t gun control supposed to stop that? Or is it just designed to prevent the honest citizens from shooting back?

And ask yourself whom does gun control protect and from whom?

I’m running for U.S. Senate

Not me!! This Dude!! Against the do nothing except what Reid wants Klobuchar!!!

Dear Kevin,

I have decided to seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Minnesota–and with your help– run against Amy Klobuchar in November. Watch our campaign announcement video here!

America is the greatest nation in the world and we must never take that for granted. Each generation must do its duty and answer the call to service. I am running for this seat because these are times of great consequence and I believe we need a new direction for the country and new representation for Minnesota.

I am also running because I believe that Senator Klobuchar’s voting record does not reflect the values and interests of my fellow Minnesotans. As Senator, Amy Klobuchar has voted for:

  • Massive corporate bailouts
  • Failed stimulus packages
  • Obama’s $2.5 trillion healthcare bill
  • Increasing America’s massive debt burden

Those are votes Minnesotan’s simply cannot afford for another six years.

Given my experience in the military and as executive director for a major non-profit organization, I know what it takes to get things accomplished. When elected, I will fight for less government spending, less burdensome regulation, and a simpler tax code–bringing common-sense Minnesota values to Washington.

With your help and financial support throughout this campaign, we can defeat yet another incumbent who wants to load America with more debt, government regulations and anti-free market legislation.
We’ve got many more updates to give you in the coming weeks and months so stay tuned. Until then, thank you for your support and together we can win this campaign in November.

Again, your financial support is crucial to our efforts and deeply appreciated.
