It’s Time to Boot an Anti-Gun House Speaker

It’s Time for John Boehner to Go!

Congressman Meadows throws down the gauntlet!

John Boehner must go.

Will your congressman do the right thing?

Congressman Mark Meadows of North Carolina is putting his political career on the line, sponsoring a resolution to “vacate the chair” that would fire Boehner as Speaker.

It’s imperative that you contact your member of Congress right now and tell him or her to vote YES on the Meadows measure (House Resolution 385).

Time and time again, Boehner has blocked conservative measures, conspired against conservative Members and blocked pro-gun legislation.

Even worse, Boehner is open to allowing votes on Obama’s anti-gun agenda.

As long as John Boehner is Speaker, your gun rights are in danger.

After all, remember in spring of 2013, when the pro-gun community was engulfed in the “battle of the century” over the Bloomberg/Obama gun control agenda?

John Boehner could have nipped gun control in the bud by pronouncing that gun control would be “dead on arrival” in the House.

Instead, he said that the “House will consider” any gun control proposals sent over by the Senate.

Shortly after that, when anti-gun amnesty passed the Senate, Boehner said that he was “[expletive deleted] bent” on passing amnesty — which would legalize millions of anti-gun voters who broke the law to get here.

The only reason this bill didn’t pass is that GOA worked with House members to kill the bill on procedural grounds.

Then there’s the failure to fight the anti-gun ObamaCare law.  Sure, Boehner has scheduled dozens of useless votes.  But he has persistently opposed fighting ObamaCare using the “power of the purse” — the only strategy with any hope of curtailing the anti-gun program.

And don’t forget last year’s “Cromnibus,” which funded virtually all of the Obama’s anti-gun actions.  GOA encouraged congressmen to vote against the bill, and we almost won.

The only reason we didn’t win is that according to one whistleblower — Rep. Marlin Stutzman — the House Speaker lied to Congressmen about what would be in the measure, and that was the only reason Boehner was able to secure the votes of several conservatives and salvage the anti-gun bill.

Most recently, when GOP congressmen dared to follow GOA’s advice and vote against an anti-gun trade deal, Boehner lashed out by stripping committee leaders of their posts.

So here’s the deal:  If just 30 Republicans side with Democrats against Boehner, he could be fired.

The good news is the Speaker must get a majority vote, which blocks Nancy Pelosi from seizing power.

If the Meadows resolution fails, Boehner will remain as Speaker.

If the Meadows resolution succeeds, a more conservative Republican will become Speaker.

Your member of Congress could be the deciding vote.

And your gun rights hang in the balance.

Don’t let Boehner side with Obama again.

MSNBC Host Scolds McCain for Calling Anti-War Protesters ‘Scum’

Even as his fellow Morning Joe co-hosts praised John McCain on Friday for denouncing Code Pink anti-war protesters who attempted to disrupt a Senate hearing as “low-life sum,” MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts lectured the Republican Senator for shutting down the intruders: “If people want to show up and protest, right? They should be allowed to hear their voices. And instead of calling Capitol Hill police and then calling them ‘low-life scum.'” Bloomberg’s John Heilemann was incredulous: “Really? You think you should be allowed to show up at a Senate hearing and just like disrupt a Senate hearing? I mean, I’m all for peaceful protests and everything, but like, you know, you’re in a Capitol Hill hearing room, you think people should just be able to like go in there and scream?”

Chuck Todd Scolds Boehner’s Decision to ‘Antagonize’ Israel-U.S. Relations

On Sunday’s Meet the Press, moderator Chuck Todd took House Speaker John Boehner to task for inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak to Congress without notifying the White House ahead of time. During an interview with Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI), Todd accused Boehner of trying to “antagonize the relationship between the two sides” and wondered “is that worth doing?” Todd began his questioning of Ryan by suggesting Boehner’s invitation to Netanyahu was extremely inappropriate and would cause further problems between the two allies: “Is it appropriate for Congress to invite a world leader to address them without telling the president…Do you think that the Netanyahu thing — do you to think that this was sort of getting involved in foreign policy in a way that maybe the legislative branch shouldn’t have done that to the executive?”

Networks Continue to Show No Interest in Covering Senate’s Passage of Keystone Pipeline

The nation’s major broadcast networks continued their blackout on Friday morning of not covering the U.S. Senate’s passage of the Keystone XL oil pipeline with zero mentions on their morning newscasts. Following the Senate’s passage of the bill on Thursday by a bipartisan margin of 62-to-36, the networks passed on even devoting a news brief to the topic during their Thursday evening news programs. When it came to their no coverage on Friday, plenty of other things seemed to capture their attention.

Nets Skip Sheriff’s Congressional Slam of Eric Holder and His ‘Ugly’ Comments

The same networks that have repeatedly defended Eric Holder in the past are now quietly ignoring the congressional testimony of a Milwaukee sheriff who has slammed the Attorney General. Despite a combined eight hours of air time, CBS This Morning, Today and Good Morning America avoided covering David Clarke’s outrage: “The incendiary rhetoric used by Eric Holder created a pathway for a false narrative that then became the rallying cry for cop haters across America.”

Ashley Judd Goes ‘Cuckoo’ for Hillary: ‘Most Overqualified Candidate We’ve Had Since…Jefferson’

Left-wing actress Ashley Judd likened Hillary Clinton to two Founding Fathers during a Friday interview with Larry King for online channel Ora. Judd gushed, “Obviously, I love Hillary Rodham Clinton,” and hyped that Mrs. Clinton “might be the most overqualified candidate we’ve had since – you know, Thomas Jefferson or George Washington.”

As GOP Takes Over Congress, Nets Hype Party Problems & Division

While Republicans officially took control of both the House and the Senate on Tuesday, NBC, ABC, and CBS all touted GOP setbacks. NBC’s Today led the way, with correspondent Peter Alexander seizing on comments from the top Senate Republican: “Among incoming Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s main goals for his party: don’t be scary.” Alexander went on to promote Republican divisions and controversy: “Their first tests, whether John Boehner can hold off Tea Party conservatives challenging his speakership and the controversy over Louisiana’s Steve Scalise, the House’s number three Republican, still defending his speech to a white supremacist group led by former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke twelve years ago.”

Networks Fret Conservatives Posed ‘a Thorny Obstacle’ for Boehner; Will Force Him to be ‘More Confrontational’

On Tuesday night, each of the major broadcast networks devoted time to covering the swearing in of the 114th Congress and the race for House Speaker that saw John Boehner retain his post, but not without 25 conservatives voting in dissent against the incumbent Republican. Overall, the networks lamented how the group presented “a thorny obstacle to Boehner’s leadership” and, in turn, will push him to be “more confrontational with President Obama” instead of “working with the President on some issues, including tax reform and trade.”

Norah O’Donnell To GOP Rep: ‘Does The Republican Party Have An Image Problem?’

On Tuesday, the newly elected members of the 114th Congress were officially sworn in and CBS This Morning co-host Norah O’Donnell sat down with Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) the youngest woman ever elected at age 30. While the interview was mostly friendly, co-host Norah O’Donnell found time to push her guest on the GOP’s standing with minorities voters and asked Stefanik: “Does the Republican Party have an image problem?”

NBC’s Guthrie Frets Palin Took ‘Cheap Shot’ at Obama in PETA Feud

In a live interview with Sarah Palin on Tuesday’s NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie accused the former Alaska governor of taking a “cheap shot” at President Obama while defending herself against nasty attacks from animal rights group PETA: “You also talk about President Obama, saying that he tried dog meat when he was under ten years old in Indonesia. I have to ask you about that one, though, is that kind of trading cheap shot for cheap shot?” Palin dismissed Guthrie’s assertion: “Oh, heck no, that was the best line in the post that I wrote, it was the kick-off line. It was, ‘Hey, PETA, chill. You know, at least Trig didn’t eat the dog.’ And, no, it also made a point that, you know, President Obama to many of the far-left radicals who are part of PETA, you know, they look at him as, I don’t know, their messiah.”

Ed Schultz Cheers Obama’s Veto Threat, Forgets His Own Support for Keystone

Liberal MSNBC anchor Ed Schultz on Tuesday cheered Barack Obama’s veto threat for the Keystone XL pipeline. However, the cable host failed to mention his own previous support for construction. Schultz breathlessly opened his show by announcing, “We start tonight with very important breaking news. President Obama will veto the Keystone XL pipeline. If you voted for this president and you care about climate change, you have to be proud tonight.” Dialing up the hyperbole, the anchor cheerleaded, “We still have a lot of power, the progressives do. The President has just cemented his legacy as one of the most pro-environmental presidents in American history.”

Ezra Klein Predicts: Strong Economy Means Hillary Would ‘Carry 42 States’

Journalist Ezra Klein on Monday pronounced that if economic conditions continue, Hillary Clinton will win “42 states” in 2016. The former Washington Post columnist, now the editor at Vox.com, appeared on MSNBC’s All In to prognosticate. Talking to Chris Hayes, he cited falling gas prices and declared, “If this was one year from today, if this were 2016, Hillary Clinton would be about to carry 42 – …if it continued on, Hillary Clinton would be looking to carry 42 states, right?” Offering a caveat, he continued, “If it continues, Clinton is in great shape, but it could turn around at some point.”

The Boehner-Pelosi ANTI-GUN Government-Funding Deal:

The Boehner-Pelosi ANTI-GUN Government-Funding Deal:
“We have to pass it to find out what’s in it”

“The Republicans [want to] agree to an omnibus continuing resolution [which] will be all the way from now through September 30th.  Meaning the Democrats, even though they lost, are going to run the budget show for yet another year, and we’re all sitting out here and asking ourselves ‘why’ and scratching our heads.” — Rush Limbaugh, December 8, 2014

It’s no wonder why Washington fears our grass-roots activists so intensely.

The $1.1 trillion deal between Boehner and Pelosi to fund the government untilSeptember 30, 2015, was supposed to be anointed by every member of the Republican caucus.

But, thankfully, you’ve given valuable aid and support to several dozen conservative members of

the House of Representatives.

“Gun Owners of America warned against doing exactly what the Republican leadership is planning in a November 17 alert.” — David Codrea, The Examiner, December 8, 2014

Now, because of your efforts, between 40 and 50 Republican representatives have ALREADY jumped ship and are opposing the Republican leadership, says Rep. John Fleming (R-LA), who is a also a GOA Life Member.  And with Rush Limbaugh on Monday echoing the message we have been spreading for the last two weeks, the hemorrhaging of the Boehner-Pelosi loyalists can only spread.

This means that at least a fifth — and maybe more — of Pelosi’s minions will have to be ordered to support Boehner for it to pass.  And Pelosi has made it clear to the press that the bill will have to be altered to be satisfactory to her in order for her to provide those votes.

The $1.1 trillion bill — which may run for thousands of pages — will be sprung soon, in anticipation of a House vote on Wednesday or Thursday.  This is precisely the type of ObamaCare-like fraud and secrecy that Republicans said they would abandon when they took control.

On guns, there will be both pro-gun and anti-gun provisions which will be carried forward from previous years.

But if we could just delay writing the bill till January — when Republicans will control both the House and the Senate — there is so much more we could do:

* We could push to eliminate the Schumer amendment, which prohibits non-violent Americans who have made mistakes from EVER getting their gun rights back.

* We could stop the ATF from creating regional gun registries by copying 4473’s during routine annual inspections.

* We could put the “kibosh” on the anti-gun aspects of ObamaCare, including the entering of gun-related information in the federally run health database.

Instead, we are faced with a Boehner-Pelosi “December surprise” which effectively gives Obama a pass with respect to all of his illegal actions on guns and immigration.

And what about last Thursday’s House vote, where Republicans declared, in effect, that they were very, very angry that Obama had stripped them of their powers?  MSNBC’s Sam Stein put it pretty well when he said this was just a Boehner trick to allow hapless Republicans to “show their rage … without undermining everything we have to do.”

One more thing — and that is the precedent this may create for Boehner’s actions during the 114th Congress which is coming up: According to Politico’s Glenn Thrush, there is an open question as to whether a Boehner-Pelosi deal to crush Republicans could cause Boehner to “acknowledge reality and actually start passing bigger, more important pieces of legislation [like an anti-gun amnesty] using this across-the-aisle Nancy Pelosi thing….”

ACTIONContact your Representative.  Tell him or her to vote against the Boehner-Pelosi “you-have-to-pass-it-to-know-what’s-in-it” giant non-transparent funding bill.

Republican Leadership Prepared to Relinquish all (Gun) Policy Decisions to Democrats…

… for the Next Ten Months!

Not a GOA member yet?  Make sure to join Gun Owners of America!

First, the good news.  Last week, you contacted your congressional representatives and demanded a “short term” Continuing Resolution.  They heard you, and every conservative in Washington is echoing this theme.

Now for the bad news.  Even though Republicans just won control of Congress, what’s the first “bright idea” the Republican leadership comes up with after their wave election?

Thankfully, the overwhelming percentage of conservative Republicans in Washington are opposed to this.  And that’s why we need to keep lighting the fire under them, so they will continue to keep pressing their leadership to stand up to Harry Reid and Barack Obama.

Here is what’s at stake: Virtually all spending and policy decisions are made on the giant government-funding bill, called the “continuing resolution” or “CR.”

And it’s in the “CR” where we have been able to defund much of Obama’s anti-gun agenda:  defunding the shotgun import ban, Fast & Furious, the implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty, etc.

The current “CR” is slated to expire on December 11. So the Republican House has two choices:

1. It can allow the repudiated Democrats currently in control of the Senate (until January 5) to make all of the spending and policy decisions — which will affect your gun rights — until September 30, 2015. It would do this by passing a so-called “long-term CR” which would set policy and spending until the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2015).

2. Or it would do a “short-term CR” into January, February, or March. This would allow the newly elected Republican Congress to set spending and policy for the federal government for most of next year.

What difference does it make?

Given Obama’s “veto pen,” all of the pro-gun policy for the next two years will probably be achieved on this bill — or not.

When April 15 hits — and millions of Americans are hit with hundreds of dollars of ObamaFines — we may be able to create a massive fight over ObamaCare’s unconstitutional mandates.

And this could be the best chance that gun owners have of eliminating a backdoor gun ban — where health data is compiled on millions of Americans and used to disarm gun owners (similar to how 175,000 military veterans have already been disarmed).

But we can’t do it without a short-term CR.

Finally, with respect to the anti-gun amnesty provisions Obama is about to illegally promulgate by executive fiat? We can address these in a Republican controlled Congress. But we can’t, so long as Harry Reid is in the catbird’s seat.

So we ask this of Republicans: Why did we elect you? It certainly wasn’t so that you could cede all of the spending and policy decisions to Democrats for 37.5% of your congressional term.

It’s time to show some backbone. And the first step is a short-term CR.

ACTION:  Contact your Representative and urge him to insist on a “short-term CR.”

He imposed laughable sanctions
