Dear Mr. MaddMedic:
Knowing of your support for our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, I would like to update you about Congressional action underway to investigate the “Fast and Furious” operation and the individuals involved.
As you may know, the controversial “Fast and Furious” operation administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, allowed federally issued guns to fall into the hands of violent criminals.
As a strong supporter of our Second Amendment gun rights, I will not allow the mismanagement of one program by Attorney General Eric Holder to infringe on the rights of responsible gun owners. Accordingly, I am a proud cosponsor of a resolution (H.Res. 490) expressing no confidence in Attorney General Holder’s performance. I have attached for your reference a copy of the resolution, which increases pressure on the administration to address his unacceptable actions.
In addition to this resolution, you will be pleased to know Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has initiated efforts to investigate the Fast and Furious program to determine who ultimately authorized the program, who knew about it, and why it was administered so poorly. You can track the progress of their efforts by visiting www.FastandFuriousinvestigation.com. While I do not serve on the Oversight Committee, I am following their efforts and look forward to examining their findings.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. To receive additional updates on legislative activity and my efforts of your behalf in Congress, please visit my website at kline.house.gov/issues.
