The United Kingdom’s legions of miserable scolds are at it again. A mere two weeks after admonishing an English national team soccer player for a firearm tattoo, the anti-gun whiners have found a new target. Gun control advocates can now boast of a new group of allies joining their dubious coalition: witches. It kind of makes sense. We all know that gun control is based mainly on magical thinking. Its advocates, after all, ask us to believe we’re just a few more “commonsense safety measures” away from a world in…….

Recent Lies About Gun Control

Rob Morse's avatarSlowFacts

I have one small thing to ask of the gun-prohibitionists. Please stop lying to us.  For extra credit, I’d like the rights-restrictors to stop lying to themselves as well. Even that may be too much to ask. If the gun control advocates must lie, then please make up some creative propaganda because the old lies are wearing thin. Here are some obvious ones, and see if you agree.

The police will take care of us.

The courts have ruled time and again that the police have no duty to protect us. The police are not liable for our protection even if you called the police and asked for help before you were attacked. The police collect evidence of a crime. If a criminal is active long enough, then eventually the police might catch him. Whether a jury will convict the criminal, whether a judge will sentence him and he will actually serve…

Resurrected Faith…….

Resurrected Faith

June 15

“Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son” (Gen 22:10).

There are times in our lives when God brings a test to see if we are ready to put to death the very thing that God promised we would have. Such was the case in the life of Abraham with Isaac. Isaac was the promised son. Yet, God said to raise the knife to sacrifice him in obedience to God.

When God brings such a test into our lives we usually have a choice. Neither choice is attractive. One choice will often salvage some aspect of the vision. The other choice will totally kill the vision from our perspective. However, that is the faith decision. That is the only decision from God’s perspective.

If we choose the faith decision that kills the vision – we will witness the resurrection of the vision supernaturally by God. Our own faith will be launched into a whole new dimension. He will raise us up in order to speak through our lives in that experience. God often brings that person into a very public ministry.

However, if we choose the lesser decision, we will reside in a lesser walk with God. God will accept the decision but there will be consequences to our faith journey. He cannot trust us with a bigger vision because He sees our obedience is moveable based on our perceived consequences.

If we choose the lesser decision then God will often orchestrate other events in our lives that are designed to develop our faith to a level that will allow us to make the right decision the next time.

Do you have resurrection faith that will trust God to raise your situation from the dead?

I would rather be right…..

I would rather be right
For reading & meditation: Proverbs 8:1-11
“For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her” (v.11)

We continue with the thought that another aspect of wisdom is integrity. Both the universe and we are alien to untruth and dishonesty. The universe is made for the same thing we are made for – righteousness. Not only the face of the Lord, but the face of the universe, is set against those who try to go some other way. No scientist can get very far without integrity. If he tampers with the laws that govern the universe, then he comes out looking foolish. He must sit down before the facts of the universe, and if he is to be successful, whatever he does has to be based on a prior commitment to honor and truthfulness. Without integrity, all learning becomes evil. Charles Spurgeon wrote to the then Prime Minister of Britain, William Gladstone, in these words: “You do not know how those of us regard you who feel it a joy to live when a Prime Minister believes in righteousness. We believe in no man’s infallibility but it is restful to be sure of one man’s integrity.” What makes us so suspicious of politicians, even though politics can be a noble profession, is not that they might make some mistakes, but that sometimes staying in office is more important to them than honor and candor. Henry Clay, when about to introduce to the American Congress a bill that was heavily weighted in favor of morality, was told, “If you do this, it will kill your chances of becoming president.” His reply was, “I would rather be right than be president.” I can almost see King Solomon’s head nodding in favor of that.
