My MBWITW!!

My Sons (although they are getting plenty big, old enough and adept with weapons to fend for themselves!!)

Or my home.

If they are attacking, I am defending with all at my disposal…

Is stupid not to and look at the average response time of LEOs, Fire and EMS where you live.

You”s be dead before they arrive.

Then you will be a victim.

I choose to be a survivor, at all costs if needed..

    What is your response to the 1998 study of guns used for self-defense vs. unintentional shootings, assaults, homicides, and suicides?

    “For every time a gun in the home was used in a self-defense or legally justifiable shooting, there were four unintentional shootings, seven criminal assaults or homicides, and 11 attempted or completed suicides.”

    If you can refute the findings of this study with another of equal or greater credibility, please let me know. I am just trying to get both sides of the story.

      How should I?
      What exactly are you asking?
      4 unintentional shootings? How many unintentional falls? Ban rugs, stairs and step ladders! Phones! I had a patient once whose significant other beat the hell out of her with a phone! Yes a phone! And of these unintentional shootings how many were the result of not following the 4 rules and irresponsible gun owners? If I leave a sharp knife or a straight edge razor laying about with small kids about what will happen? Or prescription pills handy? Under the sink chemistry set to play with?
      7 criminal assaults? Criminals most often seek the ones they have the greatest advantage over, women, children, the elderly, the disabled..Are you asking should they NOT be allowed to defend themselves if capable? LEOs have no obligation to protect you, in-spite of the ‘Protect and Serve” you often see on their squads. Do you know what response times are on average? Do you expect the criminal assaulting you, your spouse, your son or daughter, mother or father to take a time out while you call for help?
      Homicides? Do you notice how ‘guns’ are so portrayed as ‘evil’ yet people are killed with a variety of objects? Most recently in Wisconsin a father murdered his 3 small children with a knife and strangulation? Yet very little media? If he had used an ‘eveel’ gun you can bet the Anti freedom/gun crowd and media would have beat the hell out of that drum..
      11 attempted or completed suicides…don’t even go there! In 20 years I cannot count the successful or attempted suicides I have been called for..and yes guns have been used..so have cars, guys love to hook up a hose to their exhaust pipe and go park behind a church and die peacefully. Or in the garage, women love pills or a warm bath and sharp objects. Or jumping off overpasses in front of semis and such.
      No I will not try to ‘refute’ your study. Because I find it meaningless. They are talking about an inanimate object, a tool like it in itself causes death and destruction. Lets talk about all the other inanimate objects. Like the chipper that just ate the 6 year old out eat, Fargo style.
      Is never the tool that causes the problem, is the operator that often IS the problem.

        So you would be okay with more measures (i.e. gun control) to keep these irresponsible operators from exercising their second amendment rights? Or are you okay with idiots carrying guns as long as you have yours too?

    Take it as you want. It is not about ‘gun control’ is about people control. We have roughly 20,000 gun laws out there. WTH do we need more? A gun is a tool, does nothing unless you tell it to. So therefore how can you ‘control’ it? You can only control the tool user and that(government) often stomps on people’s rights. I am not for that!!

    And define ‘idiot’ someone that disagrees with you? If so that places you in the name calling leftist category..
